A fashion flashback

 WWD via Vanity Fair.

Vanity Fair today posted a sort of amazing slide show of lifestyle designer Ralph Lauren's career. This 1982 photo caught my eye not only because the model bears an uncanny resemblance to Ricky Lauren, the designer's wife, but also because of the gusto with which then Vogue editor Polly Mellen (front row, third from the left) is taking notes.

In her singular broad vowel-ed bark, she's thinking "Wiiiiiiiiide-brahmmed haaaaaaht!!!!!!"

(You will only find this funny if you are old and a fashion geek.)

you are too much! BTW, there are way too many clothes on this runway for today's standards but this was classic 1982!!!

I'm thinking I need a wool challis safari-esque dress for fall.
