Lust List - Faribault Woolen Mill Co.

 Soho throw, $134.50.

In 2009, the Faribault Woolen Mill Company was forced to close, squeezed by the Great Recession and the decline of American textile manufacturing. The mill had opened in 1865, one year after the Civil War ended, and was at one point making half of the woolen blankets sold in America. The Minnesota-based company reopened under new ownership last year, and the previously dormant weaving machines are once again humming making the only woolen blankets completely fabricated from start to finish in the USA.

 Lodge Stripe throw, $134.50.

 Outpost throw, $134.50.

Trapper throw, $139.50.

This story made me happy -- it's sad that we've given up so many of the companies that made us strong (and employed) in favor of cheap imported goods.

i love a good wool blanket. my grandmother gave me her HOT PINK wool blanket years ago and I always loved it. turns out it's a pendelton and its about 50 years old - so these things really do last :)
