OKL says I have $340 in my cabinet

I was just checking out fashion designer Jane Mayle's One Kings Lane Tastemaker Tag Sale out of curiosity. (Sister was the white-hot NYC It Girl shopkeeper of the late 1990s and early Aughts.) I noticed this charming gentleman sold quickly and remembered I have four just like him sitting in a bowl in a cabinet. Mine look like they're having more fun.

Have you seen Meg from Pigtown Design go to town on their prices of thrift shop finds?

They were selling an antler about a week ago for $87. My dog is chewing on one I bought for $10 at a general store a few miles outside of town. :)

Jeannine - Meg is my dear, dear blog buddy (for obvious reasons).

P.S. I paid $6 a piece for mine and thought it was highway robbery.

I found a deer antler in the woods (actually neglected property)behind my home. I love these vintage figurines. This is why I am afraid to get rid of things. They may actually be worth something.

totally agree. I think of OKL as any antique market/shop. You have to know the true value of what you are looking for before buying. I will say, I adore going on to OKL and just looking to see what people are totally gaga over. Then, I like to source similar items for a fraction of the price!! M.

OKL is great for certain things (like snapping up Mary McDonald's drapes) but most the vintage items are crazy expensive. If I see something I want that's vintage, I put it in my cart and then go quickly search etsy and ebay to see if I can find the same thing for less. I shouldn't give away my secrets.

I got a raft-load of crap for my OKL posts from one of the "big" design bloggers. He chastized me for being so negative. And then he went and counted all of my OKL posts and gave me a total of how many were negative and how many were positive. Out of almost 1800 posts, something like 1% were negative OKL posts.

Pigtown*Design - In my off-blog interactions with "big" design bloggers, I have found 97% of them to suffer from some sort of personality disorder. Anyone who spends that much time living in a virtual world rather than the real has more issues than National Geographic.

Also, OKL is the vintage decor mafia.

And here I thought I was the only one who perused OKL with eBay open in the next tab so I can search for things I dig but would never pay that price for.

I did drop 35 there last week on a new pair of bookends, but I'm pretty satisfied with that buy.

Are you watching Scouters vintage flash sales on the Facebook? I was all excited about a jockey-on-horseback painting until it came up for $2200 plus $125 shipping.

$137.00 for 3 "vintage" shoe trees? Someone needs to put down the crack pipe.
