You could save $2998.05

Anthropologie, the birthplace of minivan bohemia, this week reduced the price of its Diamond Shag sectional by nearly half. The seating duo was priced at a scorching $5998. For two pieces. You'd need four to make a decent seating group, but the arm doesn't line up correctly for that to happen.

But are we still lovin' Beni Ourain rugs? Every mid-price home retailer is making knock-offs, some good and some not so good. Have we jumped the shaggy wool shark? And what are the good people of Morocco standing on, given we've bought up all of their floor coverings? I'm betting this is all the rage in Fez:

I love my knock off Beni Ourain. We'll see how long the love affair lasts. But I won't be upholstering anything in it.

That not so good version is really not so good.

So, I'm all but sixty, and I've loved Ben Ourains since my teens (thank-you Billy Baldwin and Frances Elkins). And despite their current trendiness, I think my affection will survive.

As to those sectionals, not feelin' the love, Ben Ourain or not.

As to 'birthplace of minivan bohemia', I nearly spat out my orange juice. Hilarious.

I'm sending you a photograph of Wal-Mart's Ben Ourain knock-off, in case you missed it...

There, I think that's everything...

I know that I am in the minority but I desperately hate Beni rugs. They remind me of dirty, so you would not catch me sitting on furniture made of one.
In the '70s I my family was friends with a bachelor that had a Beni Ourain and his house smelled like cats even though he had no pets, so I will forever associate them with ick.
I think Moroccans are laughing all the way to the bank.

All that couch needs is a bunch of chevron and ikat throw pillows.

I'm embarrassed to say I kind of like Target's version - http://www.target.com/p/threshold-criss-cross-fleece-rug-gray/-/A-14178846#?lnk=sc_qi_detaillink

This is about as much as I am willing to spend on something so over the top trendy.

Aw, jeez, I snorted my mouthful of tea out my nose when I read, "I'm betting this is all the rage in Fez." It's gonna take me the rest of the morning to get tea offa my keyboard and monitor.

You're so entertaining!

The Down East Dilettante, Jeannine @ Small and Chic, and Squeak - Thank you muchly!

Kerry Steele- Design du Monde - A cat-less house that smells like cats? No wonder you have a negative Beni association.

Not a beni fan. Never have been. Reminds me of the matted shag carpets of my youth. Even worse on seating.

Anthropologie, why don't you come to your senses?
Come down from your minivan bohemia, open the gate
It may be rainin', but there's a Beni Ourain over you
You better let somebody love you, before it's too late.
