Wednesday wonderings - What do you want to fix up first?

The "before" of my kitchen (real estate listing photos).
This week I meet with a kitchen designer to get the ball rolling.

What room or area do you most want
to fix up/renovate/decorate in your home?

If you said I could only change one thing until next year then I would have to say paint the ceiling. But it looks a great space with room enough for such a huge island. I am at the tail end of finishing my renos and I just want my living area to be done as that is where 90% of time is spent for us. Can't wait to see the transformation!

Please excuse my oversight - I thought the question was for the kitchen hence my comment about the ceiling! I haven't had my morning coffee yet.

I would love to do my kitchen too. Despite being fairly new (8 yrs)the kitchen is small and has appliances in strange locations.
I am excited to see yours.

I seem to fix up and decorate the least expensive makeovers first. My kitchen is in desperate need, but will cost some bucks that I don't have at the moment. So excited for your kitchen redo! Can't wait.

Kitchen for me as well. It's literally 1/5th the size of the last kitchen (if not less), with a wonky layout and a worthlessly small eating area that should just be incorporated for more counter space and cabinetry.

I'm surprised to hear that a designer is meeting with a kitchen designer for some reason. I assume that this is a kitchen designer associated with some cabinet company? Prepare yourself for the sticker shock although if you're not moving plumbing, it may not be too bad.

I have one more bathroom to do before I can sit my ass in a chair and enjoy it all.

An Urban Cottage - Oh, trust me, I have everything planned out. She's just going to double-check me. I had the contractor out yesterday, and he gave me a thumbs up for all that I want to do. The only major switch-up is that I'm moving the fridge to where the pantry is and putting a wall oven/microwave combo where the fridge was.

an urban cottage- this designer works with kitchen designers all the time. i'm excellent at making a kitchen look fantastic by selecting materials and finishes, but i have no desire to keep up with the latest in appliance/cabinet technology and that's where the kitchen designer comes in. they fill a specialized, functional niche, and while i will accept input regarding the overall look of the kitchen from them, the client and i are the ultimate deciders.

Raina,
The space and light are fantastic. Every time you show a picture of your home, I think "I would have bought it too!" Like others, I love the ceiling and hope you keep it and make it feel fresh with paint. Can't wait to see what you do in there. For me, my master bathroom would be a gut job if we had the money to change it. It's on the list, but so is college for my kiddos! Ha! M.

Oh my....where to begin!?!? We are currently (I can hear the drill as I type this) remodeling the master bath. But the kitchen....I cannot wait to do that next! I am still in love with all the beams in your beautiful abode! Wow.

My husband cooks ( his father was a chef) I make drinks and OCD clean other people's houses when I visit. Can we come stay with you?

Katharine @ SouthernBourbonMountains - Of course, but you and I may have a "clean-off" as to who can be the most OCD about cleaning. ;)
