What's more depressing?

That this exists?

That 79 people re-pinned it and 9 "liked" it?

Or that some very broken Pinterest metric picked it for me?

P.S. Earlier this year, my daughter was diagnosed with her second neurological condition requiring medical intervention, and I was told I have an arthritic autoimmune disorder attacking my spine, rib cartilage and legs. So I hope you, my darling Dumplings, will forgive my prolonged absence.

Holy shit, Raina. I'm so sorry. I hope you two are doing okay.

As for that monstrosity, it looks like it's from a new-construction McMansion in a town that didn't exist on the map until developers carved it out and threw buildings up in a span of 16 months.

I could totally see people coveting that if they live in one of those places.

So glad to see you surface and I am so sorry for the health challenges ( to say the least) for you and the Pea. Bless all of you and I pray for a healthier 2015 for you all. xo Nancy

Oh no! I think I can safely say that we'd all surround ourselves with Tuscan turds if it meant you two could be healthy. Wishing you all the best.

I was so happy to see you in my in-box this morning! And then sad to learn that you and your daughter are having health issues.

I have missed your keen observations.

I hope you and your daughter have improved health in 2015 (and beyond of course)

Oh I don't have the proper words but I wish you, your daughter have found treatment and that it is successful. I pray for your health and hope 2015 brings you health and happiness! You wanna know what's funny? I would take that if it meant we got the weather to use it in London! X

I'm so happy to see you back - that thing looks like a failed audition for the Frontgate catalog.

I wish you and darling Pea comfort and joy for 2015 and after.

Have missed your wit and your eye. An offer you can refuse....I am not in the medical profession but I have guided many friends through medical trauma and any diagnosis is traumatic. Please feel free to reach out for any sort of help. I am happy to read through research and chat sites and skim away the horrifying and bring to one tip to you and the Pea the may start you on novel route to recovery or offer an alternative thought and modality. Please keep laughing and looking and reacting.

The witch from Hansel and Gretel got a great deal on a suburban Phoenix foreclosure?

Raina, you've been very missed. I wish you both the best in this new year.

Dear One,

I'm not a commenter, so this is BIG for me. I have enjoyed your voice, your insight & humanity. I too suffered a rare disease, now in remission, but still holding my breath. Please know there are many MANY good wishes (and the electrical current of thinking has power, if we can't all agree on the same words for Mystery or Higher Power), from Many!

You are one of the only stand outs in the design blog world for me because of your wit. Sorry to hear about the health issues of you and your daughter. I wish you both the best.

Oh, how thou art missed! May this virtual hug make you feel a tiny bit better and also erase the fugly patio from your brain.

I hope this year brings you both health and recovery. As for the patio, it makes me feel really superior, so it's a brilliant thumbs up from me.

I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my tingly bits for your kind words. My perspective on life has softened a bit, but I still think rainbow-coded bookcases are the Devil's work.

So sorry to read your news. I hope you each find treatments that slow or cease the progression of the your conditions. I trust your sense of humor will help...when you're not (justifiably) pissed off about the whole thing.

So sorry to hear this news. I will keep you and the baby Pea in my thoughts and prayers.

Egads, she's back! Your reasons for being away sound not good at all. I'm sorry about the Pea's health issues, both for her and for you because having one's child suffering is so much harder than suffering oneself. I hope her condition is responding. And I know you'll have had more helpful suggestions than you could (or would want to) poke a stick at for yourself, but could I just whisper 'AI eating protocol' - it's helped several people I know.

So happy to see you back, but so sorry to hear your news. Sending good thoughts to you and the Pea.

That must be very overwhelming. It's amazing how one adapts to such life changing news. You are a survivor, I think.xxx
