nice in principle but bad penmanship would bother me plus it might get abused...

My first thought was, "Kids should not play that close to the stove". I think of chalkboard walls in play areas and I do not write recipes or grocery lists behind the stove. Seems contrived.

I think chalkboard paint has interesting warm and neutral textural possibilities (and it's a cheap material solution), but I don't like when it's used as an actual chalkboard (ie. to write on): cliche and untidy.

Ick. Chalkboard paint is getting sort of tired, isn't it? It's been around a long time.
It seems entirely nonfunctional behind a stove. Impossible to keep clean.

Love the countertop and cabinetry - but this was a missed opportunity to do something fabulous.

Nice for remembering recipes, bad for cleaning up bacon grease.

I wouldn't want any chalk dust on my counter never mind accidentally getting absorbed in my food.

No also- can't imagine grease stains on that, and hate that it always looks messy! xo Nancy

This cannot be sanitary. How disgusting. Can we please banish chalkboard paint from the kitchen? Play-rooms only. And even then...

Why?

I'm over chalkboards and this is a weird spot to put one.
