Thanks Raina, your saving me a little money.
Loving the colors
i do believe those pictures have defined (finally) my favorite use of color....jewel tones! with some black and gold thrown in. (and i'll just say that i want to press my cheek against those floors...)
*love*
couches galore! - a room after erin's heart.
Socks knocked off. Not that I doubted you for a second.
The colors in #1 thru #4 are fabulous!! Had to run out and buy it yesterday.
unbelievable. truly. so gorgeous.
i am def buying this one. that is unless mike continues to take my card out of my wallet.
doucher.
all that jewel-y velvet and those blue walls!!!!! ugh!!! i love everything!
why is it the moment i am about to paint every freaking surface in my house white i see something that makes me rethink that decision.
i will say that for me..color is not calming..it is the opposite. my brain is hardwired to receive neutrals better. i think i might just have to save the jewel tones for accessories and things i can easily change. but that all black kitchen is so so very good.
The second image and I ought to get a room....so to speak!
I second Jenny's sentiments -- I keep planning for an all white house, and then BAM. This happens to me.
The whole thing is gorgeous -- love the kitchen, the couches (Anita, you know me so well), and the Nares painting in the striped room is genius.
I'm sensing a violet/purple trend. I like it a lot paired with gold.
Hooray for more color! Though I do tend to prefer the bold over the softer hues.
thanks for sharing!
All this fantastic color makes me salivate. And a black kitchen?!?!? Tres chic!
I think these rooms are awesome... Although I do agree with Jenny, I am more of a neutral kinda girl.
One thing that is a little bit bothersome about those pictures is the photography. I wish we had some shots where we could really get a handle on what the rooms really look like.
just want you to know that i have come back to this post THREE TIMES!!! bc i love it so much!!!
Averill - Hello and welcome to this deliciousness!
delicious indeed. i lurve the striped wallpaper and had no idea a matte black kitchen could look so very good. i love when people take a risk with colorful upholstery (i know we're "supposed" to do neutrals and bring color in with throw pillows, yada yada) but the pink couch is just perfection to me.
I tried to send this to you the other day but had a technical hitch which ended up with me having a tanty & hissy fit! But now - with un-hitched & de-hissied...thought you might be interested in an interview with the editor of VL to accompany the pages of deliciousness!

I want that black kitchen very, very badly. I wonder if it is as hard to keep clean as an all-white kitchen...
And I love how the lavender room is elegant without feeling too girly. I have fantasies about painting my LR/DR that color but I'm afraid it would look like a six-year-old's bedroom. Or a bordello.
Camilla - Thanks for that link, 3M. He is such an AMAZING editor. He wrote me once to thank me for my coverage of VLA. How many people in his position would do that?
Robin - Yeah, that whole 6-year-old/bordello thing is a fine line. And what does that say?
I think the trick is to find one with a touch of gray in it.
Oh thank you for sharing these stunning pictures! The richness of colors here is amazing. xo!
these pics are so beautiful. it is great to see this mix of colors! i agree w/mackenzie about the pink couch. also love the blue sofa with lavender wall w/gold & black mixed in. more color for me please! thanks for these.
seriously? i am in love!!! those velvet smokey tufted chairs are incredible! all the colours are so moody and rich. love it!
