Pantone has announced its Color(s) of the Year. Repeating 2016's pairing theme, then Rose Quartz and Serenity, this year's duo is Illuminating and Ultimate Gray. "Illuminating punctuated by a touch of Ultimate Gray conveys a message of sunshine and strength." Had Trump won reelection would we be looking at Endless Gray and Trickle Down?
The actual swatches are a bit more washed-out than the promotional photography. Less mustard, more lemon and less slate, more pigeon.
Interestingly, Illumination was the sole COTY, seen as "aspirational" (*eyebrow raised*). The second COTY was added months later to "ground" the first.
I don't know that the addition of a dull gray was needed. Your thoughts?
